Android allows us to set the default screen time-out upto 10 minutes. This means that whenever your phone is idle, the screen will automatically time-out between 15 seconds to 10 minutes of inactivity. There are many situations when we may not want the screen to time-out automatically in 10 minutes, e.g. if you are making a speech (and using the phone for cues) or a presentation. Native android does not give you any option for that.

This is where Screen Alive comes in handy. It allows you to keep the screen alive for extended periods of time, without any automatic time-outs. It is a very simple, free app. Just download it and set the time for which you want the screen to be alive and you are done!

Beware though, that if you keep the screen alive for long periods of time, it could drain your battery very quickly, especially if you have a large, hi-def screen. So do use it with caution and only when needed.
