Be My Eyes – Helping the blind

Lend your eyes to a blind person in need through a live video connection or be assisted by the network of sighted users. Be My Eyes is all about contributing and benefiting from small acts of kindness, so hop on board and get involved!

Blind or visually impaired users can request help from a sighted volunteer, who will be notified on their phone. As soon as the first sighted user accepts the request for help, a live audio-video connection will be set up between the two parts. The sighted helper can now assist the blind or visually impaired, through the video connection from the blind or visually impaired user’s rear-facing camera.

The blind or visually impaired person can need help with anything from knowing the expiry date on the milk, to making sure that their clothes match.

Pin a Chat on Whatsapp

Whatsapp is one of the most preferred media for communications across the world both for formal and informal connections. Owing to its omnipresence, over a period of time, the chats get cluttered and sometimes, overwhelming. In the process, some important messages may get missed out or ignored. And imagine what happens if the message is from your boss or your wife (same same!)

In order to avoid this, Whatsapp provides a provision to PIN messages from certain individuals and Groups on your message board. Just long press the chat or whatsapp message you want to pin. You can now see the pin icon on the top right of the screen. Tap on the pin icon and your whatsapp message is pinned. Henceforth, all messages coming from that source (individual or Group) will be pinned on top of the message list. You can also unpin whatsapp chat in the same way. Besides pinning chat, you can also mute a group chat or archive a chat.

Add Stickers to WhatsApp

Stickers are the new rage on WhatsApp. Here is a quick guide to install and start using stickers on WhatsApp:

Update your WhatsApp to the latest version – go to the play store and run update, if it is not automatically done. Once you have the latest update, go to a chat window. When you are typing, on the left, you have the option for smileys and gifs. Tap on that. In the smileys window, at the bottom center, you will see smiley, gif and one additional option for sticker. Tap on the  sticker option, and then on the + sign on the top right of that panel. You can then add sticker galleries. After adding a gallery, you can choose a sticker and tap on it to send. That’s it.

WhatsApp pre-installs a few sticker galleries. If you need to add more, suiting to your usage and likes, you can scroll down to the bottom and tap on “Get More Stickers” This will take you to the app store and offer you a large variety of stickers. Choose and install the ones you like and start using it immediately.

Recently, the Government has issued a notification that driving license, Aadhaar card, PAN Card and other documents retrieved from the Digilocker in electronic mode on your smartphone are valid proof to show to any authority and cannot be disputed.
